Security Travel Tips for Ferry Passengers
Safety and security is a top priority for all sea travelers, so this Tips for Ferry Passengers will help to make your journey a smooth one. In line with international practices, all departing passengers will have to go through 100% security checks at all ferry terminals. To help make your departure through the ferry terminal a smooth one, do take note of the following security travel tips:
Check-in times / Procedures / Documents
Passenger Check-in - At least 1 hour before ferry departure
* Please note on eve of long weekends, public and school holidays, more time is needed for expected longer queues due to bigger holiday crowds
Check-in closes 30 mins before departure
Passengers are advised to check-in and collect their boarding passes about 1 hour before ferry departure time. Check-in will close 25 or 30 minutes before ferry departure at the terminals. The extra time is factored in for queues and processing of the documents.
Documents you need to present:
- Passport with minimum 6 months validity
- Valid visa for your intended destination

Baggage check-in counter will stop accepting baggage 20 or 25 minutes before ferrydeparture time at the terminals. The extra time is factored in for queues and processing of the documents and baggage.

Pre-immigration gates will close 15 minutes before ferry departure time at the terminals. The extra time (recommended 25 minutes) is to factor in any queues and thorough security checks.
Documents you need to present for security clearance at the gates:
Passengers who are late will need to return to the respective ferry operator to re-issue another ticket and wait for the next available ferry departure.Baggage
All baggage will be screened by terminal security. Passengers should not pack any weapons, combustible items and explosive materials, toxic or other dangerous substances into their baggage. Passengers may be required to have their checked baggage undergo further security screening if deemed necessary.
